Elaine Welteroth Named Editor- in-Chief of Teen Vogue and Makes Condé Nast History
Teen Vogue has just named Elaine Welteroth their new Editor-In-Chief. At 29 years old, she is the youngest person - and the second black woman - to hold the title in the history of the magazine’s publishing company, Condé Nast, which has been operating for 107 years.
Welteroth has served as the Beauty and Health Director of the publication since 2012, and has previously held editorial positions at Ebony and Glamour.
Welteroth is replacing Amy Astley, the magazine’s founding editor, in a series of employment moves that will bring a new management team to Teen Vogue's editorial and creative staff. In a recent press release, famed Vogue Editor-in-Chief and Conde Nast Artistic Director, Anna Wintour praised Welteroth and the new team of creative directors as pioneers for the next era of Teen Vogue.
"Elaine, Marie and Phil are fearlessly at the forefront, inspiring young trendsetters with their sophisticated take on emerging fashion, beauty and pop culture, and they will lead Teen Vogue to the next phase of its success. This team has thoroughly embraced the endless potential of social media and new platforms, and their understanding of the most effective way to use them to connect with audiences, embodies what it means to be an editor today."
In addition to writing incredible stories on some of the biggest names in the fashion world, she is an online personality sharing her glamorous life to over 40,000 followers on her Instagram and Snapchat.
Congratulations to Elaine Welteroth making history in the media industry!
