Rihanna to Receive Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs
The Video Music Awards will honor Rihanna's incredible contribution to the music video artform with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year's show.
Rihanna emerged as a superstar with her first number one hit, "S.O.S." in 2006. She shot out of the stratosphere with the video and single for 2007's "Umbrella." Since then she's amassed 14 number one hits.
The Bajan superstar not only knows how to create a radio-friendly singles, but she knows how to create stunning visuals. She has long pushed boundaries for clips like "Man Down," "Bitch Better Have My Money" and "Russian Roulette."
She tweeted out the news today.

Before this year, she had only won three VMAs, and she's nominated for four others this year. The VMAs will air live on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
