Misty Copeland married Olu Evans in Laguna Beach, California over the weekend, according to US Weekly.

The couple met in a New York City club in 2004 and Copeland considers Evans her first real boyfriend. They got engaged in August 2015.

E! News reports that the wedding had 100 guests and Copeland wore an Inbral Dror gown.

Copeland has said that because she wanted a simple wedding look because she wears ornate costumes as a ballerina.



"I just want to have a simple, as easy-going day as I can have and just not have it be a big show," she said. "I just want it to be simple and classy and not feel like I’m in a tutu.”

Copeland, 33, was named the first Black principal dancer at American Ballet Theater in June 2015. Evans is an attorney.
